Read 1000 Books!
The St. Tammany Parish Library encourages families to read 1,000 books with their children before they enter kindergarten.
We are phasing out the use of this website for our patrons to keep track of their 1000 Books Before Kindergarten.
WE ARE STILL PARTICIPATING IN THE PROGRAM.
WE ENCOURAGE YOU TO KEEP READING TO YOUR YOUNGSTER!
YOU KNOW HAVE TWO WAYS TO PARTICIPATE. THE CHOICE IS YOURS.
You can use the 1000 Books Foundation app (look under Resources for info at their website) to keep track of titles.
You can also use a paper reading log. The Library has reading logs available at all branch libraries as well as a printable log at the Library’s website.
ALREADY PARTICIPATING? Don't worry, we've noted your child's number of books read in our inhouse spreadsheet. Just check in with us the next time you visit the library.
NEW TO 1000 BOOKS? Next time you are at the library, please let your librarian know you are participating so they can get some information from you. Everytime you've and your child have read 100 books, stop in and get a sticker. After you've reached 1000, stop in and get a certificate. Once a year we have a party for all of the children who've reached 1000 books.
